Hunting is about relaxation, not ‘McNuggets’

Michael J. Peters

All states surrounding Iowa except for Minnesota have an open dove season!

Did you all at the paper know this?

The dove is a migratory bird ,and as soon as it crosses any state line except to the North, it gets shot or shot at.

It seems strange to me that all states around us have the rationale to hunt them, yet Iowa doesn’t.

Did you ever think that maybe there is more to hunting than just “the Chicken McNugget” it produces for the table? Comradery, relaxation and exercise are among the many benefits of hunting any quarry.

Iowa is a minority among Midwestern states that do not pursue the dove.

The majority of Midwestern states pursue the dove yearly.
