‘Sound bite’ logic
February 1, 1999
In further discussion of the equation of natural animal behavior being used to justify what is acceptable socialized human behavior, we should go beyond the abstract principle of proof for arguments sake that Dan Conner presented, and ask if there is any harm or any good to come of it?
Focusing strictly on the use of this argument, and, evading any direct inference to the justification or condemnation of human homosexuality, I must question the “sound bite” logic.
Animals attack each other and kill each other over territory, animals eat their own young, abandon the weak to die, use brute force to enforce a hierarchy of power and privilege … these are all “natural” behaviors, kiddies, so must we all, then, surrender human society to these actions as well?
