I had the pleasure this past weekend of listening to Iowa State assistant football coach Mike Woodley speak at the Midwest Iowa Football Coaches’ Clinic in Fort Dodge.

I’ve known Mike for several years since playing for him in high school, and I’ve found him to be a professional in every sense of the word.

He did not disappoint at the clinic.

Coach Woodley knows football but also knows people and treats everyone with respect.

I wasn’t one of his better players, but he treated me like I was, and I appreciated that, as did anyone who played for Mike.

Coach Dan McCarney did the right thing when he made Mike his first choice for an assistant coach at Iowa State.
