Big Three Takeaways: Round two proves as tough as round one

Round two of the Silverado Showdown came to an end on Tuesday for the Iowa State women’s golf team. The team finished round two with a score of 304 (+16) and is shooting 599 (+23) overall.

Another high scoring day

All 16 teams struggled out on the course today in perfect conditions. Every team finished above par in round two on Tuesday. Brigham Young University had the worst day on the course finishing round two at 305 (+17).

 

San Jose St., who finished round one Monday at one under par, shot a 290 (+2) on Tuesday in round two. Oregon is still sitting in 2nd place, albeit shooting a 297 (+9) on Tuesday.

 

The average score per player on Monday was 76.33 but went down on Tuesday to 75.92. No team is under par on par-3 or par-4 between the first two rounds.

Cyclones struggle

The Cyclones have dropped from 4th place on Monday to 8th on Tuesday. Iowa State sits one shot back of 7th place Colorado.

 

All five golfers for the Cyclones shot over par in round two. Taglao Jeeravivitaporn and Liyana Durisic lead the way in round two for the Cyclones.

 

Jeeravivitaporn shot a 73 (+1) and Durisic shot a 74 (+2). On the back nine both finished under par with Durisic getting an eagle on the 18th hole.

 

Jeeravivitaporn is tied for 10th and Durisic is tied for 18th.

 

Ruby Chou is tied for 60th after shooting a 78 (+6), Charley Jacobs is tied for 40th after shooting a 79 (+7) and Warda Rawof is tied for 66th after shooting 80 (+8).

Day Three

In 2021’s round three at the Silverado Showdown the Cyclones had their best round yet. Iowa State was able to shoot a 296 to tie for 7th place out of 13 teams.

 

Jeeravivitaporn led the way in round three, in 2021, with a 71 (-1) to finish tied for 8th.

 

The Cyclones will be teeing off from 8:50-9:30 a.m. again on Wednesday in the final round.
