Carver Academy students awarded Cargill scholarships

Four Iowa State students have been named the recipients of $250 scholarships from Cargill, Inc.

The students are Roberto Sanchez, freshman in general studies; Malayphone Phothasone, freshman in biology; Alissa King, sophomore in exercise and sport science; and Mia Lyke, freshman in pre-business.

According to a press release, all four students are members of ISU’s Carver Academy, a seven-week intensive program designed for selected ethnic minority students.

The program is in honor of George Washington Carver, ISU’s first African-American student, graduate student and faculty member.
