When watercolor expert Dianne Mumm starts talking about watercolors, she doesn’t hold back.

“I like the fluidity, and the bright colors and the transparency of them,” Mumm said with enthusiasm.

Mumm, a multi-talented artist who is especially talented in the art of watercolors, will be demonstrating watercolor techniques and displaying some of her work at the Octagon Center for the Arts, 427 Douglas Ave. in Ames, on Saturday afternoon.

In addition to her art display, Mumm will also do some special watercolor magic tricks.

Sometimes before attending an art class, artistic knowledge or skills are needed.

However, Mumm said participants in her workshop don’t need any special skills to sign up.

“It helps to know about color when painting watercolors, and how to draw as well,” Mumm said. “And it helps to have have experience with other art mediums.”

The demonstration is from 2 to 4 p.m. and is free to anyone who wants to observe.
