The Iowa State Athletic Department recently announced that fullback Jerome Heavens has re-enrolled at the university and will be on the team next season.

Heavens, a native of Inglewood, Calif., came to Iowa State in the fall of 1996 and redshirted his initial college season.

In 1997, he had 162 combined rushing and receiving yards and one touchdown.

He will be classified as a junior.

The department also announced that the season will open on Thursday, Sept. 2, with a night game against Indiana State.
