Chris Duarte to play People’s tonight

Daily Staff Writer

Austin-based guitarist, songwriter and singer Chris Duarte is most commonly compared to another legendary Austin guitarist — Stevie Ray Vaughan.

But Duarte’s distinctive Texas blues style also fuses elements of jazz and rock, giving a nod to Johnny Winter and Tinsley Ellis.

Duarte began his career with Bobby Mach and Night Train in the early ’90s and released his first solo record, “Texas Sugar Strat Magik,” in 1994.

Duarte travels to People’s Bar and Grill tonight in support of his 1997 release, “Tailspin Headwhack.”

Tickets to the show are $10 in advance.
