Puff Daddy and the Family with guests Dave Grohl and the Notorious B.I.G. will appear on an upcoming Ignition Records compilation due Dec. 1.

“Hell City, Hell” will also feature Fastball, Samiam and Red Five. The CD is part of a multimedia fiesta which consists of a comic book written by Scott Parker and an interactive Web site (www.hellcityhell.com).

“The three components are all tied into each other, with songs based on the comic book and parts of the comic book included on the enhanced portion of the CD,” Mike Magnuson of Rocktropolis reported.

With the upcoming movie “Ringmaster,” it is safe to say that Jerry Springer fever has caught on. Hopping onto the Springer bandwagon, 2 Live Crew and Ice-T have joined forces to shoot a video for their song “The Real One” which will appear on the soundtrack, due out in March.

Ice-T’s love for Springer was confirmed when he told MTV News, “It’s not something you’re gonna pass by, you know. When you see it on TV, when you see two girls grabbin’ each other. It’s a great thing. It’s the American way.”

Hmm … guess those of us who thought apple pie was the “American way” have been in the dark.

Through the Grapevine

As if there isn’t already enough spice in our lives, The Spice Girls won Best Group at the fifth annual MTV Europe Music Awards Thursday. The British babes “beat out All Saints, the Backstreet Boys, the Beastie Boys and Garbage for the top honor,” Carrie Borzillo of Rocktropolis said.

The event was held in Milan, Italy, and featured other winners including Prodigy for Best Dance Act, Aerosmith for Best Rock Group and the Beastie Boys for Best Rap Artist.

In other Beastie news, the Boys will be bustin’ out some block rocking beats on the tube before the month is over, according to MTV News.

The next episode of “Saturday Night Live” will feature the Beasties as musical guest alongside host Jennifer Love Hewitt. On Nov. 27, the Boys will appear on the “Chris Rock Show.”

As the time draws near for partying like it’s 1999, Warner Bros. has decided to release “Prince’s 1982 hit ‘1999’ as a promotional single available only to radio stations,” said MTV News.

There still may be hope for those who want their own copy. The Artist Formerly Known as Prince hints on his Web site that he may release a re-mastered version of “1999” on his own label, NPG Records.
