Calek’s religion makes him more tolerable

Heidi L. Dorr

I have recently been unimpressed with the subject matter of Chad Calek’s columns and the manner in which Mr. Calek chooses to write about it.

However, I am writing today to applaud his article in the Nov. 17 edition entitled “Pondering the Angel of Music.”

Based on his previous articles, I must confess that I had passed judgement upon him and, in fact, questioned whether or not he was a Christian.

I was relieved to read of his stated beliefs, and I hope that his message will continue to be printed.

Christians can make and impact through media, and it sounds as if Mr. Calek, through his writing, albeit crass and harsh at times, is able to reach a group of people who may not be persuaded to believe.

God works through each of us, and Chad is interesting living proof of that.

Although I personally have a more conservative approach to my Christianity, I am now able to appreciate Chad’s style.

I hope Mr. Calek is aware of the power of his voice, and that he will continue to write with this in mind.
