Remembering Veteran’s Day

Jeni Nosbisch

I appreciate Ms. Ziegler’s article about the ninth of November. It is a day that Germany will long remember. But what about the 11th of November?

At 11 a.m. on the 11th day of the 11th month, a ceasefire went into effect, ending World War I.

At the time it was called Armistice Day, now Veterans’ Day. Is anyone on this campus remembering them?

If Germany is celebrating a day when the people freed themselves from communist oppressors, shouldn’t we remember, in some way, a group of people who kept us from ever having to struggle?

Save for the grace of God (and the veterans), there went we.
