The women’s cross country team placed 10th overall, and the men’s team placed 11th this past weekend at the Roy Griak Invitational in Minneapolis.

On the women’s side, the Cyclones were led by sophomore Andrea Crapisi, placing 18th out of 149 runners. Crapisi ran the 5,000 meter course in 18 minutes.

Next for the Cyclones were juniors Alienor Gilchrist, who finished 26th with a time of 18:09, and Emily Martini, who placed 44th.

The women’s squad finished with a total score of 241 points.

Providence claimed the first place finish with a score of 90 points.

The men’s squad was lead by senior Samuel Magu. Magu finished the day in 17th place out of 160 runners with a time of 25:12.

Junior Philemon Too was the was next, placing 41st with a time of 25:47. David Lichoro placed 48th, crossing the finish line with a time of 25:53.

Providence also took the men’s title with 106 points, while the Cyclones finished the day with 281 points.

Both teams will travel to Lawrence, Kansas on Oct. 10 to compete in the NCAA Pre-Meet.
