The first weekend in October is traditionally one of the biggest in sports, and this weekend is no different.

FRIDAY

3:00. Cleveland Indians at Boston Red Sox. The BoSox will attempt to take a 2-1 lead in this American League Divisional Series as Charles Nagy takes the hill for the Indians, while playoff veteran Bret Saberhagen toes the rubber for Boston.

7:00 New York Yankees at Texas Rangers. The Yankees try to make a clean sweep of the Rangers as David Cone faces Aaron Sele.

SATURDAY

11:00 No. 1 Ohio State at No. 7 Penn State. The top-ranked Buckeyes head into Happy Valley for a showdown with Big Ten rival Penn State.

12:00 New York Yankees at Texas Rangers. This game four matchup will only occur if the Rangers can win game three in Arlington. “El Duque,” Orlando Hernandez will go for the Yanks, while the Rangers will counter with John Burkett.

3:00 Cleveland Indians at Boston Red Sox. One of these teams will be gunning for trip to the ALCS, as Bartolo Colon duels with Pete Schourek.

6:30 Atlanta Braves at Chicago Cubs. The Braves could be looking for a sweep behind ex-Cub Greg Maddux. The Cubs will counter with rookie phenom Kerry Wood in a matchup for the ages at Wrigley, which will play host to a playoff game for the first time since 1989.

7:00 No. 6 LSU at No. 12 Georgia. These two proud SEC rivals will do battle as Heisman candidate Kevin Faulk takes the Tigers between the hedges.

10:00 Houston Astros at San Diego Padres. The two teams will look to gain an advantage in the series as Dave Hampton will face Sterling Hitchcock.

SUNDAY

12:00 Boston Red Sox at Cleveland Indians (if necessary.)

3:00 Houston Astros at San Diego Padres. Game four will see Kevin Brown take the mound in search of his second victory in the series.

3:00 Atlanta Braves at Chicago Cubs (if necessary).

6:30 New York Yankees at Texas Rangers (if necessary).

7:00 Seattle Seahawks at Kansas City Chiefs. The 3-1 Seahawks will travel to Arrowhead Stadium to battle the 3-1 Chiefs.
