Manifest destiny

Ms. Hirt, in my opinion your “Veggie Manifesto” was less than persuasive and more than slightly misinformed.

You take a decidedly spiteful stance against meat-eaters that I think you fail to justify.

It appears to have no moral backing as you yourself admit to using other products made from the byproducts of animals.

No, you’re reason for not eating meat is that “it tastes like rot”.

Well, get the President on the phone, we’re at war.

I know that bashing other groups and individuals for having different tastes is one of America’s favorite pastimes, but come on.

I agree with you that the Ethiopians would have enjoyed that corn, but the world already produces more than enough food to feed the entire Earth.

The amount of food wasted in one month in this country alone is staggering.

We’re all guilty of it.

This is a problem that can be blamed on all of us and not just meat-eaters.

Your reference to the Mad Cow Disease is just another example of America’s addiction to paranoid propaganda and media hype.

If we were living in the U.K. then I might be concerned about this problem.

99 percent of all reported cases have been in the U.K., but as of now there have been a grand total of zero cases of this disease reported in the States.

America has not imported beef from the U.K. since 1985 and recent bans on imports from the rest of Europe have been made.

So I certainly wouldn’t worry about your plants being infected.

I’d be more worried about the pesticides that are being sprayed on them.

No trap has been set. We have no reason to get revenge. If you don’t want to eat meat then that’s just fine by us, I support your decision.

I know I won’t lose any sleep over it.
