Ames Police ask for community’s help in robbery investigation

The Ames Police Department is investigating an armed robbery reported early Tuesday morning.

An employee of Jiffy Mart, 326 Lincoln Way, reported that she was robbed at gunpoint by an adult male, 6 feet 2 inches tall, wearing a black stocking mask, black hooded sweatshirt and jeans.

Police said the suspect left the area on foot with an undetermined amount of cash.

Homecoming results for Yell Like Hell, overall competition, and “Blitz Build”

In the first-ever Homecoming “Blitz Build,” $3,000 was raised to build a Habitat for Humanity home at Jack Trice Stadium for a family in Roland. McDonald’s matched the amount.

The house was completed in three days.

Homecoming organizers also released the results of the various Homecoming contests.

Winners were as follows:

  • The team of Delta Delta Delta, Alpha Gamma Rho and Beta Sigma Psi won first place in the overall Homecoming competition.
  • The team of Kappa Delta, FarmHouse and Kappa Sigma won second place in the overall competition.
  • The team of Kappa Kappa Gamma, Sigma Phi Epsilon and Theta Zi won third place overall.
  • Also, Towers Residence Association won first place in Yell Like Hell.

The Richardson Court Association took second place.

This was the first time residence hall entries placed in the Yell Like Hell competition.
