DARREN’S DIGITS

—With his 244 yards rushing, Darren Davis brought his total to 313 yards for the season. He is on pace for 1,413 yards for the season, which would place him 4th on the all-time single season rushing list.

—The 244 yards represented the 8th highest total in ISU history.

—This was Davis’ 3rd game of 240 or more yards, which ranks 2nd behind brother Troy, who did it four times.

—His average yards per game as the Cyclone feature back escalated to 119.9 yards per game, including 156.5 this year.

—Davis set the series record for rushing against Iowa.

BANDY’S BULLETS

—QB Todd Bandhauer had his 2nd game in a row without a sack.

—With his 11 completions, he moved into 4th place on the all-time Cyclone list with 258. One more and he will tie Tim Van Galder for 3rd place all-time. Alex Espinosa leads with 454.

—With Bandy’s 125 passing yards, he moves into 4th place with 3421. He is now 181 yards from catching Bret Oberg for 3rd place.

TEAM’S TOTALS

—Carl Gomez averaged 46.5 yards on 5 punts, moving him among the nation’s leaders this year with an average of 45.9 yards on 10 kicks.

—Joe Parmentier’s two touchdowns were the first rushing TD’s of his career. He does have three receiving scores, all coming in 1996.

—This win came in front of the biggest road crowd (70,397) since the Cyclones defeated #9 Nebraska in 1977, when over 76,000 came to see the upset.

SERIES SAMPLINGS

—This was ISU’s first win over Iowa since 1982, spanning 15 games.

—The win snapped a 20 game Big Ten losing streak.

—This was the most rushing yards in the series for ISU, breaking the previous mark of 209 in the 23-12 win in 1981.

—The last time ISU scored 27 or more points and won against the cross-state rivals was 1978, when they won 31-0.

—This was also the largest margin of victory since the ’78 whitewash.

—This was Iowa’s lowest point total since 1982, when they fell to the Cyclones 19-7.

McCARNEY’S MOMENTS

—The win is the first for coach Dan McCarney against Big Ten teams. He moves to 1-4.

—This was ISU’s first road win in his tenure and first overall since October of 1991, when they handled Missouri.

—As a 28-point underdog, this was the largest upset in Coach Mac’s years.
