August trends, $9 million to offend

Nathan Treloar

We’re just barely out of August and I’m already beginning to notice some trends.

For starters, the Ames police department seems to have found what students thus far lack: motivation.

In everything from parking tickets to party busting, the men and women in blue are trying to make an impression this fall.

Rapists are happy and girls are mad as John Tate goes free.

I don’t think it takes a judge and jury to tell us that alcohol consumption seems to bring about a morally casual attitude.

If you’re gonna drink girls, then zip up.

UBS will screw you for every dollar you don’t have (no big surprise there).

And finally, that brings me to my beloved Iowa State Daily.

In the spirit of Monday’s column by Ms. Catherine Conover, I present the Daily’s editors with the Balls to the Wall Award.

At least you’re trying, though. Last semester’s staff, at best, deserved the Asleep at the Wheel Prize.

I wonder, just how many people can you offend with $9 million?
