Corning to speak

Iowa Lt. Gov. Joy Corning will give the keynote speech at an information and strategy planning meeting concerning foster care in Story County this Tuesday at 9 a.m. in the Ames City Hall.

Ames Mayor Ted Tedesco will give the welcoming address.

A panel of foster care professionals, parents and children will give information about foster care in Story County.

The Story County Decategorization Project has identified an increasing need to recruit and retain foster parents.

Story County residents are invited to attend the meeting, where they can learn about foster care needs, brainstorm for possible solutions and discuss an action plan and wish list.


Christianity and ecology lecture set

Christianity and ecology will be addressed Monday night by Sister Anne Clifford at 8 in the Sun Room of the Memorial Union.

Clifford is an associate professor of theology at Duquesne University and the author of many articles on science and religion. She also wrote a book, soon to be released, titled “Introducing Feminist Theology.”

The lecture, titled “Christianity and Ecology: Allies or Foes?” is sponsored by St. Thomas Aquinas Church and Catholic Student Center, 2210 Lincoln Way, with the assistance of the ISU Committee on Lectures.
