Jerrett is wrong

Jason Kohler

After reading the column about rape in last Friday’s paper, I was both offended and outraged to read what Greg Jerrett had to say about rape. I was given a feeling that I had done something wrong. The article gives every man the label of “pig.” There are lots of guys out there taking advantage of girls, but what about the nice guys?

The article makes even the innocent guys who have never taken advantage of a girl seem as if they have done something wrong one way or another.

The article reads, “it is our disorder, we are the ones responsible for it.” I was outraged as I read that, because I know that I would never think about taking advantage of a girl! I know I am not the only one.

If some guy says that he has a “disorder” and is sorry for it, that is his problem.

Don’t make me seem as if I did something wrong when I did absolutely nothing.

Rape prevention can be dealt with in other, more serious ways.

This column is wrong because it is misleading.

I felt the descriptions were a little off the wall, too, such as “liquid panty remover.”

Come on! Rape is a serious issue; if you’re going to discuss it, please be serious about it.
