Where my money goes

Dustin Karrer

Okay, so I am reading the Daily the other day (Tuesday of last week), as I do most every day, and I come across an article on GSB funding. Curious to see where my money was going, I read on.

Turns out that GSB funding for clubs with a political agenda are a BIG no-no.

I thought nothing of it until I returned to my dorm floor later that night and found a poster for the Alliance which states, “The Alliance is a group through which you can give and receive support and education, TAKE PART IN SOCIAL AND POLITICAL ACTIVITIES…”

Excuse me — what did that say? Political activities? Well, that is OK so long as GSB is not funding them. Well, then I notice the bottom right hand corner that states, “Funded in part by the Government of the Student Body.”

Is it just me, or does anyone else smell contradiction? So I take it that the Alliance is either going to stop any and all political activity or lose funding from GSB. As a student concerned with where my money is going, I certainly hope that this change takes place soon.

I think the student body has a right to know these things. Like it or hate it, those are the facts.
