Sloss Women’s Center to host feminist forum

Daily Staff Writer

The Margaret Sloss Women’s Center is hosting a “Young Feminist Network” tonight at 7.

Programmer Alissa Stoehr said she is hoping the event will tap into members of “third-wave feminism.” She said she hopes this program and other women’s issues programs will dispel the notion that feminism has rigid standards.

Stoehr said she also hopes the program addresses current feminist issues.

“There are some people who think you can’t be a feminist if you’re pro-life,” she said. “It’s what you’re comfortable with. If you believe in equal rights, you’re a feminist.”

Stoehr said she hopes the “Young Feminist Network” will work with Pamela Thomas, director of the women’s center, on various women’s issues programs.

Stoehr said both men and women are invited to the program.

A “Women’s Studies Club” program is scheduled at the Sloss House for Sept. 8.

For more information about that program, check briefs and FYIs in next Monday’s Daily.
