POWs honored

American soldiers who were Prisoners of War and pronounced Missing in Action will be remembered today by cadets from each of Iowa State’s ROTC units.

The 1998 POW/MIA National Recognition Day will kick off at 9 a.m. with a 33-mile run from Iowa’s State Capital in Des Moines to ISU’s Memorial Union.

The runners are expected to arrive at the Union by 2:30 p.m.

The day will conclude with a ceremony at 5 p.m. in the South Ballroom of the Memorial Union. It will feature the reading of a proclamation from Iowa Governor Terry Branstad, guest speaker Maj. Richard Breitbach and a Parade of Caps.


Catt Hall Review Committee agenda

The Catt Hall Review Committee will meet today in Room 230 of the Memorial Union at 5:30 p.m.

Subcommittee reports will be given on the scholarship on Carrie Chapman Catt, the chronology of Catt’s life and achievements, the chronology of the naming process of Catt Hall, the chronology of the Catt Hall conflict, how other universities have handled campus conflicts, information/statements gathered from public surveys and fall forums and the healing process.

The Catt Hall Review Committee also will finalize the solicitation letter, discuss a report on past GSB proposals to ISU administration and talk about questions the public might have about the issue.
