Corn crisis

The opinion page of Tuesday’s Iowa State Daily contains an article titled “We are the world.” The editorial board put this article together in the hopes of broadening the horizons of those students who are not aware of the current agricultural crisis. I agree with the editors; problems in Asia and Russia have definitely dealt a blow to not only American agriculture, but also to nearly every sector of American business. True, we are all “neighbors.” Yes, we all “depend upon one another economically.”

However, I was extremely disappointed when I discovered that the Daily reported that corn prices are at a measly $300 per bushel.

Is there such a thing as a proofreader at the ISU Daily? Do you know the number of non-ag students who will maintain that farmers receive $300 a bushel for their product? The students at ISU deserve more from their paper.
