Upcoming releases

The Jon Spencer Blues Explosion’s new album is set to come out on Oct. 20 according to the Web site of the band’s label.

“Acme” was recorded and mixed by many engineers, including Steve Albini, and features guests such as Dr. Octagon and Luscious Jackson vocalist Jill Cunniff. JSBX is expected to begin a U.S. tour late this fall.

According to the Matador Records’ Web site, Belle and Sebastian will release “The Boy with the Arab Strap” on LP and CD next week. It will be the sixth music delivery for the octet in the last two years.

Gossard described the song on a January edition of MTV News.

“It’s a song that a lot of collectors have on bootlegs and such,” Gossard said, “so we decided we were just going to piss everybody off and release it to everyone, and it wouldn’t be special to anyone anymore … what a horrible thing to say.”

DJ Shadow (Josh Davis) and Mo’ Wax label founder James Lavelle will release “U.N.K.L.E.” on Sept. 29, reported Lily Moayeri of Rocktropolis.

The collaborative album contains contributions from many artists, such as the Verve’s Richard Ashcroft, Radiohead’s Thom Yorke and Beastie Boys’ Mike D.
