Postal rate increase expected

January will bring a one-cent increase in postal stamp rates for first-class letters.

The recently approved mail rate changes will go into effect Jan. 10, 1999, and the final increase for a series of nonprofit rate increases will take effect Oct. 4.

First-class letters will post mark for 33 cents, and nonprofit bulk mail will increase in cost from 4.6 to 25 percent by Jan. 10.

Iowa State Printing Services will distribute its annual postal update booklet in October, giving details on rates and other postal changes. It also will give guidelines on helping campus bulk mailers qualify for automation discounts.

To be added to the mailing list for the booklet, call ISU Printing Services at 294-3601.
