Ag College barbeque — The College of Agriculture freshman and transfer student barbecue will be held Thursday, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. in the courtyard of Agronomy Hall.

In case of inclement weather, the barbecue will be held in the pavilion of Kildee Hall.

The barbecue is being sponsored by the Agricultural Council.

It is free for all freshmen and transfer students in the College of Agriculture.

For other students and faculty who wish to attend, the cost is $3.

A current ISU fee card is required to eat at the barbecue. There will also be door prizes and agricultural club displays.


DOT used car action — On Saturday, more than 100 used vehicles and other pieces of equipment will be sold by the Iowa Department of Transportation at an auction.

The auction, which begins at 9 a.m., will be held at the auction lot on South Fourth Street and Oak Avenue in Ames, according to the DOT press release.

About 50 cars, 21 pickups, 12 trucks, 20 vans and other pieces of equipment will be up for sale.

The auction items may be inspected Friday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., and Saturday from 7 a.m. to 9 a.m.

All bidders must be at least 18 years old, and each bidder must furnish a $200 deposit for each vehicle that is not paid for in full on the day of the sale.
