Fall begins a new season for our community. It also begins a new season for the Story County Child Abuse Council.

The mission of the council is to provide child abuse and neglect prevention and education services within the community and to work collaboratively with other agencies and community institutions to coordinate, unify and fill gaps in the service delivery system for children and their families.

The Council is beginning its third year and is looking for people who are interested in helping us expand and strengthen our programming.

Current members of the group represent schools, the medical community, parents, retired citizens, ISU students and staff, social service agencies and the general public.

We welcome new members from these groups and any others in Story County.

Meetings are held on the second Tuesday of each month, with the next meeting on September 8. Anyone interested in participating in or supporting the Story County Child Abuse Council should call Erma Skadburg at 233-3141, or Bob Campbell at 292-9464.
