Nine of the top scholar-athletes nationally, all hailing from Big 12 members institutions, have been named as recipients of the second annual Big 12 Conference Postgraduate Scholarship Awards.

The $2,500 annual grant, awarded for academic and athletics achievement.

Iowa State’s Jayme Olson was one of the recipients.

Olson, a psychology major with a 3.85, has led the last two ISU basketball squads to their first-ever NCAA appearances while notching first team GTE COSIDA Academic All-America laurels in both 1996-97 and 1997-98.

She was first team Academic all-conference for three consecutive years and paced the Cyclones to a school record 25-8 season in 1997-98. The Bettendorf, Iowa native was also honorable mention Kodak All-America as both a junior and senior.

Gymnist Kim Mazza received the Big 12 postgraduate scholarship.
