The Iowa State women’s track team sent five members to the Georgia Tech Qualifier in Atlanta attempting to qualify for the 1998 NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championship in Buffalo, N.Y. Unfortunately, no one recorded a provisional qualifying mark.

All-American Kris Curnyn, an automatic qualifier for the NCAA meet in the hammer throw, placed second in the shot put with a throw of 50-2 1/2. She finished fifth in the discus with an effort of 157-6.

All-American Erin Bresnan ran the 800 meters along with Joanne Roepke. Bresnan took 11th, while Roepke finished 17th.

Leah Elbert finished fifth in the high jump, clearing 5-7 3/4. Katarina Svensson claimed sixth place in the 400 meter hurdles, clocking 59.97.
