Remembering a friend and brother

Douglas W. Bywater

On behalf of myself and the men of Phi Kappa Psi Fraternity, I wanted to take a moment to thank the ISU community for its support and assistance since the tragic accident that took our brother’s life last Friday. The cards and flowers are very much appreciated.

I would like to thank those who rushed to Tim’s aid at the site of the accident. It is wonderful to know that people care and react so quickly when an incident such as this occurs. It is my understanding that one young lady went so far as to attempt CPR to save Tim’s life. Those of you that tried to help him should consider yourselves heroes. You did everything that you could.

I would also like to thank the ISU staff and administrators who stood by the members of the fraternity in our time of need. In particular I would like to thank Brian Tenclinger, ISU’s greek affairs coordinator. Brian, you were there for us when we needed you most. The members of the greek system have no idea how lucky they are to have you around. Your presence over the weekend and at Tim’s funeral was a great source of comfort to all of us.

Tim was a wonderful friend and brother, and he will be greatly missed. But it is comforting to know that there are so many wonderful, caring people on this campus. It’s a shame that something so tragic must occur to wake you up to the people around you.

For anyone who knew Tim, a memorial service will be held in the Campanile Room of the Memorial Union this Sunday at 1:00 p.m. We would love it if you would attend and share your memories of Tim with us.
