ISU’s Hilton wins magical honor
Iowa State sophomore right-hander Nate Hilton was named Big 12 Pitcher of the Week by a select media panel for games played between March 30 and April 5.
The Boone native overpowered Texas A&M with a two-hit complete game on Friday.
Hilton earned the victory in the Cyclones 10-1 trashing of the 11th-rated Aggies.
He retired 18 straight batters from the second to eighth innings and did not allow an earned run.
“It was one of the finest performances I have seen in a long time,” Coach Lyle Smith said. “To do that against a top-notch team like Texas A&M is amazing.”
Change in today’s Cyclone game time
This afternoon’s Iowa State-Grand View match-up will be played as a seven-inning doubleheader instead of a single nine-inning contest. The first pitch will be thrown at 1 p.m. instead of the originally scheduled 3 p.m. start.
