Children are invited to take part in the Panhellenic and Interfraternity Councils’ annual Easter Egg Hunt this Saturday on central campus. At 1:30 p.m., children ages 12 and under are asked to bring their Easter baskets to the event to pick up some goodies.

Prizes will be given away and candy will be placed in plastic eggs donated by the Ames Wal-Mart. The candy is being donated by the 46 greek chapters at Iowa State.

“Each house donates $25 worth of candy and around 10 members from each house will be present,” said Marjie Muehlig, director of public relations for Panhellenic.

Greek members will help Easter egg hunters find as many eggs as possible.

According to press release about 200 children participated in the Easter egg hunt last spring, and the councils are expecting a comparable amount this year.

Ads for the hunt have been placed in the Ames Tribune and on KCCQ’s “Hot Tips,” to encourage community participation. KCCQ is also expected at the event, Muehlig said.

“This is a really popular event with the community,” she said.
