Open forum about M-Shop Thursday

There will be an open forum Thursday about the Maintenance Shop held in the Gallery Room of the Memorial Union from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m.

The Memorial Union Board of Directors would like to take comments from the public on the M-Shop, a facility in the Iowa State Memorial Union which serves as a gathering and eating spot as well as an entertainment venue.

Topics of interest to the board are the Shop’s usefulness as a gathering place for ISU students, the types of entertainment and other events presented there as well as its use as a smoking area.

Discussion will be limited to one hour, and persons who cannot attend may write to the board in concern of the Director’s Office, Iowa State Memorial Union, Ames, Iowa 50011-1103, or e-mail comments to [email protected].


Conference on nutritional issues

Iowa State students, faculty and staff will have the chance to hear the most current thinking on the topic of nutritional supplements Thursday at a satellite video conference titled “Current Issues in Nutrition.”

This year’s event, which is taking place in the Scheman Building, will feature nationally recognized researchers and practitioners discussing aspects of nutritional supplements.

Continuing education credits are available for dietitians, dietetic technicians and dietary managers, certified home economists and nurses.

Registration for the event will begin at 9:30 a.m., with presentations and panel discussions running until 4 p.m. The fee for ISU faculty and staff is $20 and includes course materials. ISU students may register for free.
