Feminism and the right to be heard

Tanya Zanish-Belcher

Contrary to the editorial “Dichotomy of feminism,” authored by Robert Zeis, readers should note the following:

1. EVERY woman, including Paula Jones and Kathleen Willey, has the right to be heard in a court of law when it comes to accusations of sexual harassment.

2. That the accused, including President Bill Clinton, are INNOCENT until proven guilty in that court of law.

The ISU Committee on Women agrees with the previous statements — Jones and Willey have the right to be heard, but President Clinton should be given the opportunity to defend himself. It is up to the courts to decide proof of guilt or innocence.

And lastly, again, as we have stated before (10/9/97), Hill did not “come forward” during the Thomas hearings — she was called (in addition to other female witnesses) before the Senate Judiciary Committee to testify.
