‘Northern exposure’ — Minnesota unfairly criticized in column (3 of 3)

As a Minnesotan, I felt compelled to respond to the article written by the guy who thinks he knows everything about the state. First of all, if you want to start criticizing states, you might want to take a close look at your own first. But I won’t even go there. My next question is, when you did your “hours of driving” in Minnesota, did you accidentally miss the exits for Minneapolis and St. Paul? I don’t know where you where driving, but it must not have been anywhere near where I’m from. And when you said that all the lakes in Minnesota are “swamps,” I started to wonder why so many people spend time boating and waterskiing on Lake Minnetonka or Lake Calhoun. I didn’t think you could do things like that on a swamp, but hey, you know more than me, right? Another thing I took offense at was your criticism of the Mall of America, or “megamall,” as you so annoyingly put it. I can understand how our mall would bother you, considering Iowa’s own impressive shopping opportunities. Now, I will agree with you that Bemidji and the like are not the most fun places in the world, but that’s why most people choose to live near the Twin Cities, which you conveniently neglected to mention in your article. One final question: Do you know where I can buy a new loincloth? I think I left mine at home.
