Weight Club — The Union Drive Association Weight Club is holding “Lift to Build,” a charity weight-lifting contest, Saturday at 1:30 p.m. in the Maple-Willow-Larch Commons.

Weigh-in time is scheduled for 1 p.m. and the competition, which is open to all ISU students and faculty, will get started soon afterwards, according to Ryan Carstensen, junior in management information systems and UDA weight club president.

The entry fee for “Lift to Build” is $10 per person, and all proceeds will benefit Habitat for Humanity.

Carstensen said there will be two weight classes for the men, advanced and novice, and one women’s division.

He said trophies will be awarded to the competitor with the top ratio of bench press weight to body weight, with medals given in each individual weight.

All entrants will receive a T-shirt. Coke and Powerade will be available, Carstensen said.

“This is the first year UDA has put it on, and we have talked about making it an annual event if it is successful this year,” he said.

“Lift to Build” is sponsored primarily by the UDA club, Carstensen said, with weights provided by the Richardson Court Association weight club.
