A 58-year-old woman died from self-inflicted gunshot wounds Monday evening in front of Kum & Go, 2801 E. 13th St.

Nadine Ware, of Tulsa, Okla., was taken to Mary Greeley Medical Center at about 6:30 p.m. after shooting herself twice in the stomach.

Sgt. James Robinson, of the Ames Police Department, said Ware was pronounced dead nearly an hour later.

Robinson said notes written by Ware have been discovered “that would point to, or suggest” suicide.

Police believe Ware, who was traveling alone, was en route to the Minneapolis, Minn. area, where her daughter and son-in-law reside. They have been notified of her death.
