The women’s tennis team swings into action this Saturday for its first home meet of the indoor semester.

The Iowa State squad participated in a contest last weekend against Creighton and Colorado State in Lincoln, Neb. The team faired a shut-out meet against Creighton, and a 6-3 loss to Colorado State.

Kendra Leese said last weekend’s away meet was good and that the team’s season start has been equally strong.

“Everyone has very different game styles,” she said. “At their own game, everyone is playing really well.”

Leese, who said her focus this weekend will be on maintaining mental toughness, said one of the Cyclones’ strengths is consistency.

“We’re strong throughout the lineup, up and down. We don’t have any weak spots.”

The team plays Missouri at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Ames Racquet and Fitness Center.

“We have a tough match with Missouri, so we’re really excited to play them at home,” Leese said.
