‘Whining’ rebuttal

Kel Munger

In regard to Todd Turner’s comments about “whiners” at ISU, just how does he propose that concerned student/citizens at a public university bring about change? Is it “whining” when citizens engage in public discourse, education, protest and acts of civil disobedience? When American citizens followed that course to alter our government during the Revolutionary period, it was simply called “patriotism.”

Oh, wait – those citizens were white men. I guess it’s only “whining” when white women and people of color do it. If white men do it, it’s called demanding their inalienable rights.
