Name change

Iowa State’s Social and Behavioral Research Center for Rural Health has officially changed its name to the Institute for Social and Behavioral Research.

The name change will better portray the purpose of the center, said Rand Conger, institute director, in a press release.

“The center no longer studies only rural populations,” he said. “[It] also evaluates health issues in urban settings.”

According to Conger, the “center has also been providing research services and expertise to investigators across the university who study a variety of social and behavioral issues.”

The Social and Behavioral Research Center for Rural Health was created in 1988.
