Black History Month

Pat Miller

While the members of the Committee on Lectures would like to thank the Daily for their coverage of Black History Month activities, the article did leave out many of the names of individuals and offices who made this impressive, semester-long list of events possible.

Special recognition should go to Dianne Bystrom, director of the Carrie Chapman Catt Center for Women and Politics, who was able to convince her former colleague and good friend Anita Hill to speak during the Center’s Strong-Minded Women Dinner on April 6 and then join us at 8 that evening for a public lecture. Other organizers and co-sponsors include the Ames/ISU Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Planning Committee, African American Studies Program, Minority Student Affairs, Dean of Students Office, Women’s Center, Women’s Studies, College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, College of Education, College of Agriculture, College of Engineering, College of Veterinary Medicine, College of Business, College of Family and Consumer Sciences, Women in Science and Engineering, Political Science, Music, Black Student Alliance, Delta Sigma Theta and YWCA.

The Committee on Lectures members thank you all for your support.
