The Iowa State baseball team posted a 10-2 victory over Creighton to start the season on Sunday.

The Cyclones dominated on the mound, allowing only six hits and registering 13 strikeouts, and at the plate by blasting four homeruns.

ISU clean-up hitter Bill Uelman snapped a scoreless tie in the fourth by belting a two-run homer.

Uelman’s homer sparked the club, and the Cyclones added a pair of runs in the sixth, seventh, eighth and ninth innings.

Matt McDonough, Jeff Duncan and Adam Scott also hit long balls for ISU.

Five ISU pitchers saw action in the victory, with Brad Wladron earning the victory by throwing two innings of hitless ball and fanning three Bluejay batters. Both of Creighton’s runs were unearned as the result of two Cyclone errors.

Scott was 2-for-2. Shawn Leimbek went 3-for-3 with a triple and scored three runs. Uelman finished the afternoon 2-for-5 with three RBI.
