Finalists for LAS dean position to visit campus soon

Four finalists competing for the dean position in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences will visit Iowa State in upcoming weeks to take part in public open forums and discussions on campus diversity issues.

The finalists are:

Sandra Greer, professor of chemical engineering, chemistry and biochemistry at the University of Maryland, College Park.

Howard Grotch, interim dean of the Eberly College of Science and professor and chair of physics at Pennsylvania State University, University Park.

Frederick Rudolph, chair and professor of biochemistry and cell biology at Rice University, Houston.

Herman Saatkamp Jr., professor and head of humanities in medicine at Texas A&M University, College Station.

Rudolph will visit campus Feb. 18-19; Greer will be on campus Feb. 23-24; Saatkamp will be on campus Feb. 26-27; and Grotch will be at ISU March 4-5.

Each candidate’s visit will include a 5 p.m. reception following the discussion and forum.
