The following information was provided by the Ames Police Department. All individuals are innocent until proven guilty.

  • Justin Fredrick Bott, 20, 4400 Westbrook Dr., was cited for minor on the premises at the Cue Club, Dec. 5.
  • Jason Poggensee, 19, 103 Stanton #18, was arrested for possession of a controlled substance, Dec. 5. He was later released on a citation.
  • Jesse Swanson, 20, 109 Lynn #4, was arrested for possession of a controlled substance, Dec. 5. He was later released on a citation.
  • Matthew James Bryant, 19, 3212 Nixon, was arrested for public intoxication, Dec. 6. He was later released on a surety bond.
  • Justin Randolph Eckard, 19, 811 Duff, was arrested for public intoxication, Dec. 6. He was later released on a surety bond.
  • Sean Brown, 19, 140 Lynn, was cited for minor on the premises, Dec. 6.
  • Shannon Thomas Shuey, 30, 2823 West #4, was arrested on a warrant for probation revocation, Dec. 6. She was later transferred to Story County Jail.
  • Robert Alan Leighton, 29, 517 Hayward, was arrested for driving under suspension, Dec. 6. He was later released on a citation.
  • Erik Samuel Lenning, 20, 4196 Grant, was arrested for driving under suspension, interfering with official acts, running a stop sign, and no registration, Dec. 7. He was later taken to Story County Jail.
  • Andy John Penning, 21, 300 S. 18th St., Estherville, was arrested for public intoxication, Dec. 7. He later pleaded guilty, was fined and released.
  • Sarah Jane Lokken, 20, 218 Stanton, was cited for possession of alcohol underage, Dec. 7.

DPS Log

December 2

  • Kim Hasstedt, Memorial Union Ramp employee, reported a vehicle had been parked in the ramp since Sept. 10 and they thought it may be abandoned.
  • DPS received a report that a female was on the ground on Bissell Road. Upon arrival, the officer found the victim, Nicole Bourgoin, 3606 Helser Hall, on the sidewalk on the west side of Sweeney Hall.

Bourgoin said she tripped over one of the sidewalk seams and fell. She was transported to Student Health by ambulance where she was treated and released.

  • Daniel Joo, 1828 Douglas Ave., said someone took his backpack while he was skateboarding on the south side of Parks Library. Estimated loss is $7.
  • Shaun P. Soleta, 246 N. Hyland Ave. #213, reported someone used his ATM card and removed cash.

The card and cash were later turned over to DPS.

  • Bret Michael Towns, 8251 Knapp Hall, reported he had ridden his bicycle to Lot 61 to get some property out of his vehicle.

While there, a person attempted to steal his bicycle.

Investigation is continuing.

December 3

  • Property damage accident in Lot 47.
  • Josh Keul, 225 S. Dayton Rd., reported the resident of 168A University Village had hooked up to cable television without paying for the service.

Estimated loss is $16.54.

  • Property damage accident in Lot 62.

December 4

  • Someone was caught shoplifting in the University Bookstore.
  • A vehicle, driven by Bruce Michael Antion, 1422 Stafford Ave., was eastbound on 13th Street when a second vehicle, driven by Elizabeth Jane Osendorf, 245 Sinclair Ave. #302, lost control of her vehicle and slid into Antion’s vehicle.

Estimated damage to Antion’s vehicle is $4,000.

Estimated damage to Osendorf’s vehicle is also $4,000.

The road conditions were snow covered and icy at the time of the accident.
