Jingle bells
December 12, 1997
Dashing through the snow boots, all covered with slush, across campus we go, our brains now nothing but mush.
Once again finals week is almost upon us, and many of us are at our wits’ end.
But finals are the least of our worries because we still haven’t bought all our Christmas presents and the stores are just about empty. Looks like cousin Ethel gets another cheese log this year.
Have the holidays gotten you down or are you just ready for the semester to be over? Feel like everything is going wrong and it’s all you can do to keep from pulling your hair out?
Are you worried about being broke because you spent too much money on Christmas gifts? Well, join the club.
Everyone gets the blues or the worries at least once during the holiday season. It’s normal and completely acceptable.
What is important is that we remember what is really important during this time of year.
We should remember that we may be having troubles, but there is always someone somewhere who has more problems and troubles than we do. One of the best things about this time of year is the spirit of giving.
If we have the means and the time, we can always go out and give part of ourselves to those who are less fortunate. Isn’t that what the holidays are all about?
Ever since the beginning of time, people have designated a time of year to give of themselves unto others so that those without may be with at least one day of the year. If we are fortunate enough to be able to share some of our time with others, it makes us much better people.
How many of us wouldn’t like to be better people? And how many of us can resist smiling when we put a smile on the face of someone else?
