The Des Moines Civic Center will be hosting the London and Broadway blockbuster musical production, “Miss Saigon,” for a four-week limited engagement beginning May 27, 1998.

From the creators of “Les Mis,” “Miss Saigon” is a tragic story of the love and self-sacrifice shared between an American soldier and a young Vietnamese woman during the fall of Saigon in 1975.

The musical shares how the American dream can act as the salvation and demise of people and their hope.

Originally opening in 1989 at the Theatre Royal, Drury Lane in London, the musical opened with the largest advance ticket sales in history and immediately went on to receive Best Musical honors from the Evening Standard Awards and the London Theatre Critics Circle Awards.

In 1991, the musical opened at the Broadway Theatre with similar results.

“Miss Saigon” will premiere at the Des Moines Civic Center May 27, 1998, through June 20, 1998.

Tickets for matinee and evening performances of Miss Saigon are now on sale through the Des Moines Civic Center, 243-1888.

Ticket prices range from $13 to $60.50.
