Outlaw “black?”
December 10, 1997
This morning when I got up it was pitch BLACK in my room. I brushed my teeth with a BLACK-handled toothbrush. I packed my BLACK backpack and headed to campus.
On the way I encountered numerous BLACK cars parked along the side of the road. I picked up the Daily with BLACK printing on it read a letter to the editor about how the term “BLACK Tuesday” is a racial slur.
Never in my wildest dreams would I have considered “Black Tuesday” a racial slur against someone. I want to ask Mr. Yeboah one question:
Should we just outlaw the word “black” from the English language so everyone who thinks that adjective is a personal attack on themselves is happy?
