A man is in critical condition after he was struck by a car Tuesday at about 9:15 a.m. in front of the Memorial Union.

Loras Jaeger, director of the Department of Public Safety, said Robert Duane Sheldahl, 51, an employee of the Memorial Union, was struck by a car driven by Jennifer Lynne Paff, a graduate student in textiles and clothing.

Sheldahl was transported to Mary Greeley Medical Center with head injuries, Jaeger said.

He was later taken to Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines, where he is listed in critical condition.

Jaeger requested that anyone who witnessed the accident and might be able to give further information contact DPS at 294-4428.
