Typewriters going to Nigeria
October 6, 1997

More than 100 typewriters have been received in the central Iowa area for the Iowa-Nigeria Partnership. Many of the machines came with one ribbon.
The hope of the partnership is to send six ribbons with each typewriter so the machines will be useful for a long time. There is currently a need for contributions to pay for ribbons. A $10 contribution would purchase two ribbons.
Office Depot in Des Moines is one merchant that will sell the Iowa-Nigeria Partnership ribbons. Merchants and others are encouraged to provide ribbons. Although ribbons are needed, the Iowa-Nigeria Partnership said more manual typewriters can be used. Typewriters need to be in good working condition. The machines will be sent to Africa after they are all collected at the Thanksgiving Ingathering.
