Iowa State senior forward Jo Hinks has been named the Big 12 Conference Soccer Player of the Week for the week of Oct. 8.

This is the fourth award the Big 12 has given, and Hinks is the first Cyclone to win the award.

Hinks, a native of Burlington, Canada, scored five goals last weekend as the Cyclones posted two Big 12 victories.

Friday, ISU beat Kansas 4-1 and then topped Missouri 4-3 Sunday in overtime.

Her five weekend goals brought her season scoring total to 15 points. She vaulted into 11th place on the Big 12 scoring list. Her 15 points and six goals lead the ISU team, and she is tied for the team lead in assists, with three.

Hinks’ high-scoring weekend helped her team climb into a tie for sixth place in the conference.

The top six finishers will participate in the Big 12 Conference post-season tournament in San Antonio, Tex., Nov., 6,7 and 9.

The Cyclones, 6-6 overall and 3-5 in the conference, play Western Illinois at the ISU Soccer Complex today at 4 p.m.
